人が輝けば店が輝く店が輝けば街が輝く
福岡からスタートしたCOMATSU。日本橋で福岡の魅力が伝えられるような暖簾を制作。福岡の観光名所や食、人、お祭りを表現し、イラストのタッチも人の温もりが感じられるように全て手書きで何回も描き直しました。それにより温もりが感じられる作品になったと思います。帯には博多で特産とされる絹織物「博多織」をイメージ。博多織は締めたら緩まないという特徴があり、古くは重い刀を腰に差す武士の帯として重用しました。日本橋でも根を張り続けらるようにとこのモチーフを使いました。
Hito ga kagayakeba mise ga kagayaku mise ga kagayakeba machi ga kagayaku
Comatsu began in the city of Fukuoka. We created a noren designed to convey the appeal of Fukuoka to the people of Nihonbashi. The noren depicts Fukuoka’s tourist attractions, foods, people, and festivals. The delicate touch of the hand-drawn illustration represents the warmth of the people, and the piece was redone numerous times to achieve just the right degree of warmth. The belts on the sides were inspired by Hakata cloth, a silk fabric that is a specialty of the Hakata District of Fukuoka. A characteristic of Hakata cloth is that it will not loosen once tightened. In the days of old, it served as a sash to bind the heavy swords to the hips of samurai warriors. We used this motif so that our concepts will take root in Nihonbashi as well.

Based on the philosophy of “If employees shine so will the restaurants, and if the restaurants shine, so will the community,” Comatsu operates nine establishments within Fukuoka City, including an Italian bar, café, bar, pub, and Chinese restaurant. In May 2019, the company opened the 10th restaurant in the Kanda District of Tokyo, and in September opened its 11th operation in Nihonbashi’s Coredo Muromachi Terrace. Additionally, the company is involved in the processing and sale of foodstuffs and ingredients, as well as event planning and management. Comatsu plans and provides training and seminars and is additionally engaged in the planning and production of advertising and promotions.
