Kylin mandala
The Motif of this Noren (entrance curtain) is the statues of Kylin, an imaginary animal in a pair of A-un form (one with an open mouth and the other with a closed mouth) on Nihonbashi Bridge. This artwork attempts to update the Noren of the Edo period to reflect the modern age with “digital transcription” that enables the traditional dyeing and delicate expression of the Kylin image in 2582 circles.
