MIYAKO TOCHI TATEMONO CO.,LTD.
Founded in 1830
Miyako Tochi Tatemono Co., Ltd., is a tabi (socks worn with thonged footwear) shop founded in the Kanei era (1624-1644). Under the tradename Kameya and the trademark Miyako Tabi, the company manufactured and sold tabi. During its heyday, the company provided Mitsukoshi Tabi to the Mitsukoshi Department Store and the Imperial family. However, the company stopped manufacturing and selling tabi midway through the Heisei era (1989-2019) due to a decrease in demand and the absence of craftspeople and became a real estate leasing company, which is its business today. The current company name is derived from this trademark.
